God's Mercy Vocation - It was a long road full of difficulties and ordeals for Louis Shen who was longing to be a priest. For forty years Louis waited and yearned to fulfill his life’s dream of becoming a priest. The seminary he entered was shut down by the Cmmunists and Louis was imprisoned and then sent to be reformed through labor in the camps and farms in Qinghai. He almost starved to death during the great famine and for most of the time as deprived of the inner nourishment he needed that could only be provided by his family and contact with priests and fellow Catholics. But he never wavered in his resolution and found his strength in his love for the Lord and the Blessed Mother Mary. In this book Father Shen recalls his years of tribulation and deprivation without a trace of hatred or bitterness and attributes his survival and achievement of his goal to the Providence of God. |
